Meet Anton Ortigas; one of 2019s top travel photography artist.

Published

on

Anton lives in the corporate world; he breathes the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle. He seems like your average yuppie: finished his MBA, works a day job, dabbles in photography… if only they were that. Instead his Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship from Ateneo GSB is put to good use daily in his many roles: first, as one of the youngest Country Managers of an international company, second, as an owner of an f&b franchisor, and third, as a globetrotting Instagram influencer.

Anton is behind Cotecna Elite Philippines Inc., a leading third-party audit, training, testing, inspection, and certification (ATTIC) global provider dedicated to developing and employing Filipinos in different provinces so they can provide local companies with world-class assurance services. With a bustling professional workforce of more than 300 employees in the Philippines, Anton has certainly carved himself a top spot in a niche industry, and yet despite his success, you can still see him in action, always in pursuit of bettering himself and others around him. This is why they recently launched their capacity-building initiative The Cotecna Institute, a training facility providing technical and vocational education to further professionalize the industry. It also provides leadership and skills enhancement seminars available to the youth in partnership with various government agencies.

His passion for empowering people goes beyond the confines of skyscrapers and traffic jams, and this is seen in We The People Coffee and Tea Company, a homegrown farm-to-palate coffee shop with three branches in Manila that serves handcrafted specialty coffee made from locally sourced and roasted beans. It also features curated products from students and budding entrepreneurs, as well as art pieces from illustrators, writers, and photographers from metro south, including his pieces from his internet-famous IG @antonorts, with over 90,000 followers and counting. There you can see his travels around the globe, captured in their wonder with Anton’s unique take on lines, shapes, and colors. When asked how he can manage to find time to take such beautiful photos in his busy life, he answers: “Social media provides an escape – a means to find inspiration and breathing spaces in other realities.” It’s no wonder that he takes such poignant and inspired images.

Here are some questions I asked him:

How did you make a name for yourself in your industry?

By taking photos of unique things, creating moments through everyday life experiences

What obstacles did you face to get to where you are now?

I was young when I started managing our family business. It was hard to improve our corporate culture in the beginning because more senior employees did not listen and were resistant to change.

How did you overcome these obstacles?

Lead by example and worked hard to get more clients. I implemented programs within the company that empowered our employees to make decisions and lead their teams independently. This infused in them a feeling of ownership and it leads to positive growth and unity amongst each other.

Johnny Medina was once driven by a sport. Basketball was what he lived for, he dreamed of playing in the big league, but he had a career shortage as he tore his meniscus in his right knee. From fancy 360 dunks to not being able to play competitive at all. Johnny did not know what to do with his life. After working regular 9-5's for two years he then got into Sales & online marketing. In the First 3 months he became a 5 figure earner and is now a sales coach, consultant and expert in public relations.

Showcasing The Human Side Of Entrepreneurs Through The Lens Of Hustle Hive TV

Published

on

Many people are intrigued by the daily routine of young and budding entrepreneurs. The curiosity of a lot of people is aroused by how young entrepreneurs deal with their daily lives. Plenty of individuals are asking how they started their business or the challenges they’re facing as young entrepreneurs. People want to learn the steps that they take, the habits that they’ve adopted or the things that they did in order to be successful in their business endeavors.

This is the goal of the Dickens brothers of California. Eriksen and Soren Dickens are the founders of Hustle Hive TV, which is an educational platform on YouTube that shares knowledge about the different facets of entrepreneurship. Through their lenses, they want to document the lives of young entrepreneurs and share it with a wide range of audiences to inspire others with similar mindsets. The content they produce hopes to humanize and humorize the entrepreneur lifestyle while adding educational value to the lives of others.

The Dickens brothers are known for producing documentary films like “Dirty Toes” and “Magic in the Lane”, both documentaries about entrepreneurs who’ve overcome adversity in their lives to get where they are today. The brothers are drawn to making films about young, hustling entrepreneurs because it’s so relevant to who they are.

“Telling stories through documentary-style filmmaking is our greatest passion. We have been making films since we were 10 years-old. So, now, we want to tell the stories of young entrepreneurs and show the highs and lows that they encounter every day to reach their goals and become successful,” Soren Dickens explains.

The Dickens Brothers

Eriksen and Soren grew up in the so-called Cowboy Capital of the World – Oakdale, California. It is a small, cowboy town located in the Central Valley of California.

Since they were 10 years old, they have been fascinated with making films. They started

making home movies using their mother’s VHS recorder and even made their own costumes and props. This love for filmmaking persuaded them to establish their own production company in 2016, called Platinum Peek, while both were still in college at California Polytechnic State University. A year later, they established Peek Wedding Films, a brand that specializes in unique wedding videography.

Founding of Hustle Hive TV

Eriksen explained that as business-minded filmmakers, they are always looking for interesting people to tell stories about and so they looked around them and found the perfect people. The brothers currently live in San Luis Obispo and have immersed themselves within a broad network of young entrepreneurs on similar paths.

“As young entrepreneurs, we realized that our lifestyle is quite unique compared to most people. Up until this point, all of us had been relatively quiet about our ventures—working hard but working in the dark,” says Eriksen.

They reflected and realized, why not share the successes and challenges that they, and so many other budding entrepreneurs face on a daily basis? “We realized that a central part of being able to retain knowledge, is being able to share knowledge—to educate others,” he added. This reality became the laying foundation for Hustle Hive TV.

Who is a Hustler?

As defined in the dictionary, a hustler is an enterprising person determined to succeed. They are hard-working people who know how to get around problems and make money. This best describes Eriksen and Soren and their peers. They are a group of normal guys living in San Luis Obispo, California pursuing different goals, but with the same intensity and drive.

“The cool thing about Hustle Hive,” Eriksen Dickens says, “is that you’re able to get so many different perspectives. Because there’s a handful of us involved, one day you might get tips on app marketing, the next day you might learn something about filmmaking. One day you might learn about the importance of keeping a healthy mind as an entrepreneur, and then the next day you’ll learn about real estate investing. But the underlying theme in all this is centered around what makes us human. At the end of the day, we’re human beings and face adversity like everyone else. By showing this, I think it demystifies the whole entrepreneurial lifestyle and makes it more obtainable for people.”

Inside the Hustle Hive, they have content creators, app developers, sales professionals, market insiders and serial entrepreneurs who have created several streams of income.

Brett Foreman, the founder of the San Luis Obispo based mobile app called Kick-it-Points and a co-star on Hustle Hive TV, says of the platform: “Not only has it helped grow my business within the community, Hustle Hive TV has allowed us to educate both businesses and young entrepreneurs looking to learn more about digital advertising.”

What do they do?

Eriksen explained that they peek into the daily lives of young entrepreneurs who experience the highs, the lows and everything in between. “It’s not always sunshine and rainbows on the road to complete financial freedom! There are bumps along the road and sometimes you encounter detours, so we want to show that despite the circumstances, these young entrepreneurs continue to push forward until they reach their goal,” he continued.

Soren added that they will show the behind the scenes of the lives of entrepreneurs which will cover their struggles, successes, and everything that they have been facing in the past several years. “We are going to show it through reality content, value-driven content and a little bit of entertainment,” he noted.

In a nutshell

The Dickens brothers are not only using filmmaking as a platform to tell stories, they’re also utilizing the medium to inspire young entrepreneurs to continue moving towards their dream of financial freedom. Starting a business is not easy. It takes a lot of commitment and dedication, but with that persistence, it is obtainable. This is why they established this educational platform—to inspire young and budding entrepreneurs to not give up on their dreams.

Reflect on Yourself to Reach The Path to Abundance

The debate on the subject of the title seems to be very relevant in the current scenario where everyone fights for success by hook or by crook. Introspection is valuable, important, and perhaps even critical to a successful life and career. Discussion of why introspection is necessary and how one can evaluate and understand oneself and give feedback can help to appreciate it correctly.

Defining success in individual contexts or group contexts would facilitate deliberations on learning to take the experiences of the past more efficiently and have a better outcome. Being aware of oneself is an important aspect of humanity that can benefit us in every effort.

When we are self-aware or know ourselves, we are better able to understand others and find broader perspectives on our experiences. Being aware of ourselves can also help us in our work and careers.

Do You Know What You Want?

Knowing what you want is one of the most important lessons to be learned through introspection. Most of us approach this question through a process that is closer to eliminating what we don’t want, than being specific about what we do want. However, in your career, it is very important to know what you really want to do.

If you can’t define what you want from a career, you can be thrown into a trial and error rut. Perpetuating experimentation, involved in the search for what you want is like always taking two steps backward before going forward. Spend some time organizing your thoughts about how you feel about your work and what you want to do.

Once you have determined what you want, stop wasting time on jobs that take you away from what you want and need, that is, away from your expectations.

Do You Let Other People Influence Your Choices?

If we get to know ourselves we are much more likely to be true to ourselves and do what is best for us. Being ambivalent about who you are leaves you open to the influences of others. Others may be giving you messages about what they think you should be doing with your career, that those messages are not really what you want.

Taking the time for introspection and getting to know yourself will help you in your professional relationships. The insight you gain from self-awareness will help you communicate with others from a broader perspective. Better communication means better working relationships and freer collaboration.

Improving your teamwork skills through better communication will help you move forward in your career. Making an effort to look inward and know who you really are will help you in all aspects of your career.

Knowing what you want and gaining a broader perspective on your work relationships will capitalize on your skills and lead you to better career options. In this way, introspection can be the greatest success of your career or business.

Nsenzi Salasini – Leveraging Customer Acquisition Systems to Build Businesses

Published

on

Recently, I sat down with Nsenzi Salasini. He is an entrepreneur and customer acquisition specialist who has made serious headway in a short time in business. I asked him how he got started, his advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, and much more.

Hey Nsenzi, what does your company do?

At High Demand Marketing we help Entrepreneurs and Real Estate Professionals, see consistent growth month over month through automation, customer acquisition systems, and processes.

What are your 3 core values?

The 3 daily values I live by are;

  1. Respect yourself, Respect others, and operate from the highest place of integrity
  2. Not everything that happens to you in life is your fault, but what you make of everything that happens to you is your responsibility
  3. See every problem as an opportunity to innovate. Don’t just think outside the box. Think like there is no box.

What advice do you have for entrepreneurs who also want to differentiate themselves and get ahead of their competition like you did?

To take your company to the next level and separate yourself, you have to take a full inventory of your target market’s pain points and solve the deeper problems that no one in your industry is solving.

Take my case for example. One of the biggest challenges my agency clients face is being able to consistently follow-up and set appointments with prospects. It’s a massive problem. I saw that as an opportunity to provide a viable solution while differentiating myself in the marketplace. I decided to take the follow-up process off my client’s desk and do it for them. Now they can focus on showing up to booked appointments and closing deals. No one in my competitive space is serving their clients at this level and it put me in a category of my own.

Aim to solve the problems that your competition is not even thinking of solving.

What are 3 tips people can use to grow their business?

  • Lead generation never stops. Ever.

Although we have seen some quick wins for our clients with digital marketing, it is not a magic bullet. Focus on the long term growth of your database. Your database is your most valuable asset and the more you feed it, the more you can predict your income and the more it will pay you in dividends. Never stop feeding your pipeline.

  • Use videos and engage with your audience online.

Video creates more trust and familiarity between you and your audience. Video is also the most engaging piece of content online, and because most people are afraid to get on camera, it’s the simplest way to differentiate yourself in your market. Especially if you are selling a high-ticket product or service. Trust is everything.

  • Focus on the two things that actually move the needle forward. Setting appointments and closing appointments.

Don’t get caught up in all the different shiny objects and distractions. Automate and systematize your lead generation so you can focus on closing appointments and making the bigger plays above your business. Take that framework, make it your own and implement it in your business.

What are your future plans?
I am currently working on a few very exciting projects that the world will have to wait and see but overall; I plan to continue expanding my reach and helping people move away from outdated & inconsistent growth systems. Putting the power to systemize and scale their company back in their hands. Most importantly, I plan to increase my collaboration and philanthropic efforts with organizations that involve youth guidance and mentorship.
